World Cup growing pains for Chen: "Hangzhou AG aims for gold"
"I want to score the game-winning goal"
After experiencing growing pains in her first World Cup, 토토사이트 2002-born forward Chun Ga-ram (Hwacheon KSPO) of the Korean women's national soccer team has called for a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
"It's been a year since I was first called up to the national team and stood here," Chun told reporters before the women's team's first training session at the National Training Center (NFC) in Paju on Friday morning. "I've learned from being called up consistently, and I've experienced growing pains through the World Cup, so I want to make sure I don't waste that time and grow further."
Chun, who showed the promise of 'young blood' at the last Women's World Cup in Australia-New Zealand, along with 2000-born Chu Hyo-joo (Suwon FC) and 2007-born mixed-race player Casey Eugene Fair (PDA), is considered the next generation of attackers to lead women's soccer.
She earned the nickname "Chun Messi" at last year's U-20 World Cup and was selected by KSPO as the No. 1 pick in the WK League rookie draft late last year.
"Even though I'm young, I wanted to help women's soccer by showing good form," Chun said, "I also wanted to give courage to players younger than me."
"At the World Cup, I realized that you really have to give it your all to win. I tried my best, but I wasn't good enough. I will make up for it in the future."
Having watched the entire Women's World Cup, which ended with Spain's victory, Chun said, "I was envious and thought they were amazing. There were a lot of young players like me, so I learned a lot from them."
"I don't know what the future holds, but if I go again, I don't want to go through the pain I went through this time," said Chun, who hopes to return to the World Cup in four years. "I want to feel the responsibility of representing my country and continue to grow as an athlete."
Finally, when asked about his goals for the Hangzhou Asian Games, he said, "Gold. I also want to score the final goal in the final as a striker."
